Published in the journal Green Chemistry, the study details how the new material, dubbed SALG-PR, functions as both a high-strength structural wood adhesive and an effective surface coating. In laboratory testing, timber treated with the bio-resin prevented burn-through during 300 seconds of direct torch exposure while releasing negligible formaldehyde emissions compared to conventional options.
