International interest for WoodEXPO 2013
Planning for WoodEXPO 2013 this last month has really stepped up a gear. Australasia’s first ever dedicated show for sawmilling, panels and wood manufacturing operations is already attracting keen international interest. Running in September 2013, this new event builds on the very successful series of independent technology programmes run by the Forest Industry Engineering Association over the past 13 years. “Already we’re fielding enquiries from local companies and a wide cross section of major technology providers from throughout North America and Europe” says FIEA Director Brent Apthorp. A well-established German company involved in major international woodworking fairs has just been contracted to work with FIEA to encourage major equipment and product suppliers throughout Europe to come down for this new series. “We’re finding the interest is being triggered by WoodEXPO 2013 being quite different from any other show or event in this part of the world. The Expo is being run in both countries over a two week period and FIEA is the driving force behind the September 2013 series,” says Mr Apthorp. This week FIEA staff are attending North America’s new Timber Processing & Energy Expo in Portland. Over 170 exhibitors are showcasing the very latest machinery and services for primary producers of lumber, plywood, engineered wood products and wood energy. Sawmill scanning, mill optimization, machinery alignment, sawing systems, wood manufacturing, panel processing and product technologies are all being profiled at this year’s Portland Show. A number of companies exhibiting at Portland have said they will be involved in next year’s WoodEXPO 2013 event. At this stage, WoodEXPO 2013 Exhibition and Sponsorship Packs have been sent out to over 6000 potential exhibitors with direct mailing of the new packs being completed last week. Opportunities open to those supplying the industry in New Zealand and Australia can now be found on the event website, www.woodexpo2013.com | |||
