SE Fibre Exports to reduce woodchip operationsNippon Paper Group Inc. subsidiary South East Fibre Exports Pty. Ltd. in Eden, Australia, looks set to reduce operations to a single shift and lay off 20 employees, the Australian Broadcasting Corp. reported on 28 September. Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union organizer Dusty Miller warned the move could have dire implications for the entire timber industry in New South Wales. South East Fibre Exports is the State’s only woodchip export mill. As sawmills are not permitted to burn their waste products sawmills are going to be squeezed without a market for their waste wood.
