Australian lumber imports changingAustralian imports of lumber and mouldings have eased back from May to June. New Zealand exports to Australia have lowered by 19% for lumber and 18% for mouldings. While total lumber imports in Australia have reduced by 23% on the year to June for 2011, the year to June figures for New Zealand show a 6% increase on last year. Imports of US lumber have increased 92% on last year. The biggest drops are from European lumber and may be showing the effect of a slowing housing market preferring cheaper softwoods.Source: NZX Agrifax, www.nzxagri.com/agrifax | |
